Applications Engineer II
Role Summary
Provide technical support and solutions for customers using Lattice Semiconductor products. Work with sales, product engineering, and customers to define and deliver application demos, evaluate designs, and resolve hardware/software issues.
This role sits on the applications/field engineering team and focuses on pre-sales technical enablement, customer troubleshooting, and sample/demo development.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include enabling customers, building demonstrations, and resolving technical issues.
- Support customers and field sales with technical evaluations and product demonstrations.
- Develop reference designs, demos, and proof-of-concept prototypes.
- Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and software integration issues.
- Collaborate with product engineering to reproduce and resolve customer issues and to provide feedback on product requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, application notes, and internal knowledge articles.
- Provide training and technical briefings for customers and internal teams.
- Occasional travel to customer sites and partner locations as needed.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience expected for successful performance in this role.
- Experience with digital design and FPGA/programmable logic technologies.
- Familiarity with HDL (Verilog/VHDL) and common FPGA tool flows.
- Experience debugging hardware and firmware integration issues; use of logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, or similar tools.
- Proficiency with software scripting (Python or similar) and Linux-based development environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing technical work.
- Ability to produce demos, reference designs, and clear technical documentation.
- Nice-to-have: experience with SERDES, PCIe, embedded processors, or prior applications engineering in semiconductor or FPGA industry.
