Wi-Fi - Python Automation Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the BU Wi‑Fi / Wi‑Fi Connectivity Group responsible for developing scalable test automation frameworks and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for Nordic's Wi‑Fi products. The role focuses on automating protocol, regression, performance, and system-level testing to improve release quality and test efficiency.

Works closely with firmware and system engineering teams to provision environments, run automated test suites, and troubleshoot failures in embedded and containerized setups. Location: Hyderabad, India.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Experienced). The posting requests 5+ years of experience in test automation, DevOps, or QA/Automation/DevOps combined roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and operating automated tests and CI/CD infrastructure for Wi‑Fi products.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for Wi‑Fi protocol and system testing.
• Write and optimize automation scripts and utilities (primarily Python; C for lower‑level test code).
• Implement automated regression, feature validation, performance, and system‑level test suites.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable execution across environments.
• Build, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar).
• Provision and manage test environments using Docker, containers, and virtualization tools.
• Debug and troubleshoot test failures, improve reliability and test coverage, and document test suites.
• Collaborate with development teams to streamline release and verification processes.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience; candidates should meet the must‑have items below.

• Must-have: 5+ years in test automation, DevOps, or QA/Automation/DevOps roles.
• Must-have: Strong programming skills in Python and C with experience building automation frameworks.
• Must-have: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and concepts (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent).
• Must-have: Experience with Linux, embedded platforms, networking fundamentals, and Wi‑Fi standards (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be).
• Must-have: Familiarity with Git, code review practices, and container workflows (Docker).
• Must-have: Strong problem‑solving ability and effective English communication skills.
• Nice-to-have: Shell scripting, virtualization tools, and prior experience integrating tests in large CI/CD pipelines.
