Job Title
Test Engineer, Sr. Staff
Role Summary
As a senior test engineer on the hardware/test engineering team, you will develop production test solutions and ATE hardware for high-speed SoCs (including optical PHY), drive device characterization and production test methods, and work with design, validation, and product teams to meet performance, yield, and cost targets.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical candidate: ~10+ years in the semiconductor industry; minimum experience may vary by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Lead test development, characterization, and production test efforts for high-speed SoC products.
- Develop production test methods and convert/generate test vectors for characterization and production ATE (Advantest 93K, Teradyne Ultraflex or equivalent).
- Design and develop production-grade ATE hardware (boards, sockets) and collaborate with simulation/design teams to meet signal-integrity and high‑speed requirements.
- Support customer sampling and production release activities with planning and product engineering.
- Perform device characterization, production diagnostics, troubleshooting and yield-improvement activities.
- Implement test-time reduction and multisite testing strategies to reduce product cost.
Requirements
Key qualifications and technical skills required or strongly preferred.
-
Must-have: 10+ years semiconductor industry experience; experience with device characterization, production test diagnostics, troubleshooting, and quality processes (qualification, production release, yield improvement).
-
Must-have: Proven experience developing test methods for high-speed SoCs and production ATE systems.
-
Must-have: Strong English communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Advantest 93K or Teradyne Ultraflex platforms, DFT techniques (Scan/ATPG, JTAG, memory BIST), and advanced packaging (2.5D).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with SERDES, PCIe, DDR, mixed-signal measurements (ADC/DAC/PLL/LDO), wafer sort/final test data analysis, and signal-integrity simulation for ATE hardware design.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field plus 6+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's plus 5+ years; OR PhD plus 4+ years. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in some cases.
