System Design Engineer (f/m/d)
Role Summary
Work on integration, test, characterization and support of advanced semiconductor inspection systems within the LS-SWIFT division. The role sits at the interface of design engineering, manufacturing transfer and field support.
Primary mission: ensure system performance and reliability by leading integration activities, supporting manufacturing and field escalations, and transferring robust solutions into production.

Mid-level β typically requires more than 3 years of relevant professional experience beyond an advanced degree.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on system integration, testing, documentation and cross-functional support:
- Lead system and subsystem integration, testing and characterization; define and maintain performance and reliability specifications.
- Deliver structured training to Manufacturing and NPI engineers to transfer product knowledge and procedures.
- Support manufacturing and field service teams with optics- and system-related escalations; resolve technical conflicts and set priorities.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for design, test and diagnostic procedures to enable efficient manufacturing transfer.
- Provide regular status updates to management via reports and presentations; surface risks and changes.
- Ensure alignment with group strategies and roadmaps and participate in periodic program reviews.
- Propose and drive improvements in methods and processes in a fast-evolving engineering environment.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience and practical requirements (degree details are listed under Education Requirements):
- Proven ability to work independently and deliver results within defined timelines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work across functions.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience developing or supporting complex optical-mechanical systems or assemblies.
- Background in optoelectronics, sensor technology, microscopy, optics, or system design/support.
- Experience with manufacturing support, field service escalations, and training delivery.
- Professional-level English, written and verbal.
- Ability to join within a short and predictable timeframe.
- EU work permit required.
Education Requirements
Advanced degree (Master's or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Optics, or a related technical field. The posting prefers this advanced degree combined with more than three years of relevant professional experience.
