Job Title

Staff Test Operations Engineer

Role Summary

The Staff Test Operations Engineer will own test operations activities and coordinate with product groups and cross-functional teams to ensure successful probe and final test manufacturing and customer deliveries. The role interfaces with internal factories and OSATs and drives process, capacity, and equipment improvements across multiple sites.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Preferable: more than 5 years' experience in high-volume semiconductor test manufacturing (probe/WLCSP and final test) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include daily test operations, transfers to volume manufacturing, capacity expansion, and continuous improvement.

  • Serve as test operations interface to product groups and functional teams (Supply Chain, Quality, Packaging, Foundry, PMO) across regions.
  • Manage daily test operations with internal factories and OSATs: lot tracking, dispositions, test program releases, hardware troubleshooting/repairs.
  • Coordinate probe and final test transfers from NPI to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Plan and execute new test capacity expansions (tester, handler, hardware) to meet production demand.
  • Deploy new tester/handler technology and test solutions to manufacturing sites.
  • Implement best practices and standardize processes within test manufacturing sites.
  • Drive gross margin improvements via OEE, yield, and retest reduction initiatives.

Requirements

Expectations include practical test-floor experience, platform knowledge, problem-solving, and project execution skills.

  • Experience in high-volume semiconductor test manufacturing (probe/WLCSP and final test).
  • Hands-on experience with major ATE tester platforms (example: Teradyne ETS364/Flex/ETS800, Advantest 93k, SPEA, Cohu).
  • Familiarity with test processes, equipment operations, and production planning concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills (8D, Why-Why, root-cause analysis) for process and manufacturing challenges.
  • Good understanding of test methodology for analog, digital, and power products; failure analysis and reliability testing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional interaction.
  • Project management skills to lead transfers, capacity projects, and continuous improvement efforts.

Nice-to-have:

  • Probing/test prober hardware experience and map merging.
  • Programming experience (Visual Basic, C++).
  • Proficiency with statistical and data-analysis tools (JMP, Spotfire, etc.).

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computing or related engineering discipline.
