Staff SW Systems Design Engineer

Role Summary

As a Staff Engineer in SW Systems Design Engineering within the Engineering Enablement group, you will define and lead system-level modeling and virtual prototyping strategy to enable early software development and customer engagement.

This is an individual contributor / technical leader role bridging SoC architecture, hardware design, and software teams to deliver performance‑optimized pre‑silicon models and prototypes.

Experience Level

Senior; requires 7+ years of industry experience in SoC design, architecture, or system-level modeling.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver system-level models, virtual platforms, and customer enablement to support pre-silicon software development and product definition.

• Define strategy and build high-fidelity virtual platforms for early software development and customer evaluation.
• Develop AI-based tools, skills, and environments to simplify prototyping and adoption of virtual platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues and act as the escalation point for pre-silicon customer feedback.
• Collaborate with customers and internal product, hardware, and software teams to define appropriate virtual platforms.
• Ensure models and prototypes are performance-optimized and ready before silicon tape-out.

Requirements

Must-haves:

• 7+ years industry experience in SoC design, architecture, or system-level modeling.
• Hands-on experience with SystemC, TLM 2.0, C/C++ or equivalent high-level modeling and virtual platforms.
• Expert-level C++; experience with Python and scripting for modeling automation.
• Deep understanding of SoC architecture, CPU subsystems (ARM/RISC-V), bus protocols (AMBA AXI/CHI), and memory hierarchies.
• Proven ability to drive technical decisions across cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
