Staff R&D Engineer
Role Summary
Lead research and development of advanced semiconductor devices and process flows targeting RF applications. Collaborate with R&D, cross-functional teams, and customers to design, fabricate, characterize, and integrate transistor devices, with emphasis on meeting aggressive performance and reliability targets.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Minimum 3 years of semiconductor device research or process development experience as specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include:
- Lead novel process development and technology innovation for RF semiconductor components.
- Operate and troubleshoot semiconductor fabrication equipment; develop wafer-level processes.
- Perform DC, RF and reliability testing for GaN devices; analyze data and extract conclusions.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary and cross-functional technical teams to meet project goals.
- Author and review proposals and technical articles to secure external R&D funding aligned with technology roadmaps.
- Interact with and support commercial, military, government and customer stakeholders through technical presentations.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Deep understanding of semiconductor processing, device characterization, and device physics.
- Hands-on experience with semiconductor fabrication equipment and wafer-level process development.
- Experience performing and analyzing DC, RF and reliability tests for GaN or similar devices.
- Ability to work independently as a strong individual contributor and make technical decisions in a fast-paced research environment.
- Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC).
- Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
- Experience leading, executing, and shaping R&D projects is highly preferred.
Education Requirements
PhD in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related technical field (required per posting). The posting also specifies a minimum of 3 years of semiconductor device research or process development experience.
