Staff Engineer - ASIC Verification

Role Summary

Senior technical role in Micron’s ASIC Verification and Emulation group responsible for architecting and implementing advanced verification environments for complex SoC components.

Primary mission: ensure timely delivery of high-quality verification solutions that validate IPs, sub-systems and SoCs.

Experience Level

Senior — typical experience: 6–8+ years of deep ASIC/SoC verification experience; Staff-level technical contributor.

Responsibilities

Deliver, maintain, and improve verification environments, plans, and flows for complex digital IP and SoC blocks.

  • Define, develop, debug and optimize design verification environments and methodologies.
  • Develop testbenches, verification plans, test-plans and coverage definitions for IPs, sub-systems and SoCs.
  • Perform RTL debugging, scoreboarding and code-coverage analysis to diagnose and close verification gaps.
  • Collaborate with architecture, firmware and design teams to reproduce, debug and resolve critical issues.
  • Drive detailed test-plan creation, tracking, and verification closure across project milestones.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

  • 6–8+ years of hands-on verification experience (minimum experience requirement removed from Education section).
  • Strong RTL debugging skills, experience with scoreboarding and code-coverage analysis.
  • Proven ability to write and track detailed test-plans at block and system levels.
  • Expert-level knowledge of SystemVerilog and UVM; familiarity with C is beneficial.
  • Good written and verbal communication; effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with DDR, PCIe/NVMe or NAND interfaces; exposure to emulation and generative-AI coding tools.

Education Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree is specified; equivalent practical industry experience is acceptable. No specific advanced degree is required. (Source lists "B.S. in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent with extensive industry experience").
