Job Title

Staff Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead analog power management IC architecture, transistor-level design, and validation within Qorvo's Power Management division. Work with cross-functional global teams (systems, layout, test, and manufacturing) to deliver high-performance, manufacturable power-management solutions.

Hybrid role based in either Richardson, TX or San Jose, CA, with multiple onsite days per week.

Experience Level

Senior / Professional. Typical background: 8+ years engineering experience, including at least 6 years in analog and mixed-signal IC design focused on DC-DC power converter architectures and control methodologies.

Responsibilities

Design, validate, and release analog power-management ICs; collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Lead architecture and circuit-level design for high-efficiency, high-density power-management ICs.
  • Perform transistor-level design, simulation, and validation to meet functional and performance targets.
  • Define product specifications with system engineers, balancing performance, power, and cost.
  • Select and implement circuit topologies ensuring robustness, yield, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with layout engineers to optimize floorplanning and parasitics for silicon performance.
  • Coordinate with global design teams to align development strategies and schedules.
  • Partner with test and characterization teams to define validation methods and production test strategies.
  • Document designs and present technical reviews, analyses, and trade-offs to stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

  • Must-have: 8+ years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry (or equivalent).
  • Must-have: 6+ years in analog and mixed-signal IC design with DC-DC converter architectures and control methods (voltage-mode and current-mode control).
  • Must-have: Experience with EDA flows and tools for EMIR, capacitive coupling analysis, parasitic extraction, and floating-node checks.
  • Must-have: Experience with production release of power-management ICs and supporting silicon bring-up.
  • Must-have: Effective communication of complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Simplis, ADS.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on lab experience supporting high-frequency switching power supplies.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience). Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering. Equivalent education and experience accepted.
