Job Title
Sr. FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Work in the SBIO team to develop FPGA hardware validation platforms, prototype designs, and debug complex hardware/firmware issues. Collaborate with design and firmware teams to define validation plans and execute FPGA bring-up and system integration testing.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting designates a senior-level engineer; years of experience are not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include FPGA architecture design, prototyping, verification, and system-level debugging.
- Design and implement FPGA architectures on Xilinx devices (UltraScale, UltraScale+, Versal).
- Create RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog for high-performance applications.
- Perform FPGA prototype design, implementation, bring-up, and board-level integration testing.
- Conduct timing analysis and optimization using Vivado tools and achieve timing closure.
- Debug hardware and firmware issues using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.
- Validate designs against specifications and performance requirements.
- Produce design documentation, specifications, and technical reports.
- Participate in design reviews, cross-functional collaboration, and status reporting to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this role; preferred items listed separately.
-
Must-have: Proven experience developing and bringing complex FPGA designs to production on Xilinx platforms (UltraScale/UltraScale+/Versal).
- Strong RTL skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog and familiarity with simulation and debug flows.
- Experience with Vivado tool flow, synthesis, implementation, and timing closure.
- Board bring-up and hardware debugging experience using logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- Experience with FPGA prototyping platforms and reference boards.
- Proficiency in scripting for automation (Python, TCL) for build and test flows.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with Synopsys HAPS, Versal ACAP specifics, and industry high-speed protocols such as PCIe or USB.
