Job Title

SOC Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Perform functional verification of integrated SoCs within the Data Center Group (DCG) to ensure RTL meets microarchitecture and product specifications. Work with architects, RTL designers, postsilicon and physical design teams to develop and execute verification plans, debug issues, and improve verification infrastructure and methodology.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience guidance from this posting: Bachelor's degree +6 years industry experience; Master's degree +4 years; PhD +2 years.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities include planning and executing presilicon verification, debugging failures, and collaborating across teams to close coverage and improve methodologies.

  • Define and develop scalable, reusable block, subsystem, and SoC verification plans and testbenches.
  • Implement verification environments using OVM/UVM and SystemVerilog constrained-random methodologies.
  • Execute verification plans; run emulation and system simulation models to verify functionality, analyze power/performance, and find bugs.
  • Replicate, root-cause, and debug presilicon issues; propose and implement corrective actions.
  • Document test plans and lead technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
  • Incorporate security-related tests (regression and debug) into verification activities.
  • Maintain and improve functional verification infrastructure and methodology; absorb postsilicon learnings and update test coverage accordingly.
  • Collaborate with SoC architects, microarchitects, RTL developers, postsilicon, and physical design teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience followed by preferred skills.

  • Must-have: Strong practical experience with OVM/UVM methodologies and SystemVerilog-based constrained-random verification.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute verification test plans, perform debugging, and drive coverage closure.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages to automate verification flows and tests.
  • Experience running and using emulation and system simulation for verification, power, and performance analysis.
  • Proven root-cause analysis and presilicon debug skills.
  • Effective cross-functional communication and ability to drive technical reviews.
  • Nice-to-have: Extensive experience in design and/or verification of complex IPs or full SoCs; Xeon CPU pre- or post-silicon validation experience; strong knowledge of cache coherency for multi-processor SoCs and layered protocols (transaction, data link, PHY); track record of improving test suites and methodologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (with 6+ years industry experience); or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (with 4+ years industry experience); or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (with 2+ years industry experience).
