Job Title
Senior UVM Digital Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join Draper’s Digital Design Team as a senior verification engineer applying UVM and formal methods to verify FPGA and ASIC designs across embedded security, cryptography, signal and image processing, navigation, and communications.
Develop verification plans, build UVM agents and VIP integrations, drive coverage closure, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with RTL designers and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 5–7 years of related systems analysis or digital verification experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver verification strategies, lead small teams, and drive closure for complex digital designs.
- Develop verification approaches and author/execute verification plans for block- and chip-level UVM testbenches.
- Design and implement UVM agents for proprietary buses and instantiate VIPs for standard buses.
- Create constrained-random tests and implement covergroups to meet design requirements.
- Perform code and functional coverage analysis and drive coverage closure.
- Work with RTL designers to resolve simulation issues and suggest design modifications.
- Use formal analysis tools to supplement simulation-based verification.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and lead small verification teams.
- Translate requirements into testbench architecture and identify/mitigate program-level technical risks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 5–7 years of experience in systems analysis or digital verification.
- Fluent in SystemVerilog and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA).
- Recent experience with UVM/UVMF and both block- and chip-level testbenches.
- Experience with at least one major simulator (QuestaSim, Xcelium, VCS).
- Experience with industry bus protocols and VIP integration (examples: DDR3/DDR4, AMBA AXI).
- Strong grasp of constrained-random testing and coverage-driven verification.
- Experience with formal analysis tools and scripting (Python, Perl, Bash) in a Linux environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to lead and mentor small teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or another relevant engineering field required; Master’s degree preferred.
