Senior Staff Test Engineer

Role Summary

Develop automated test (ATE) hardware and software solutions for Renesas power management and battery-management IC products. Own test development from planning and design through characterization, validation, and transfer to high-volume production.

The role works closely with IC design, applications, and manufacturing teams to define test requirements, implement multi-site wafer sort and package tests (Advantest 93K, Cohu Diamondx), and support product qualification and datasheet validation.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of direct experience in new product IC test development.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include end-to-end ATE test solution development, characterization, and production support:

• Develop ATE test solutions for battery management (BMS) and power-management ICs (buck, boost, buck-boost, BMICs, regulator controllers).
• Own test projects from planning through production release, including schedule and deliverables.
• Generate test plans, define requirements, and estimate resources and timelines.
• Design and implement multi-site wafer sort and package test hardware and software.
• Create characterization and validation tests and perform data analysis to inform device specifications.
• Execute full checkout for manufacturing transfer: multisite checkout, data gathering, analysis, and reporting.
• Interface with design, applications, and product engineering to debug and characterize new devices.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required for the role; preferred items listed separately.

• 10+ years of direct experience in new product IC test development.
• Strong ATE test development and debug skills for analog, digital, and mixed-signal ICs.
• Proficiency with ATE analog and digital instruments and ATE hardware design.
• Programming experience in one or more languages such as C++, BASIC, Perl, or Python.
• Experience with ATE characterization and test-time reduction methods.
• Ability to work effectively on cross-functional development teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Leadership experience or evidence of technical leadership capacity.
• Experience with Advantest 93K, Cohu Diamondx, or Teradyne ETS364 ATE systems.
• BMS-specific test experience and SMPS controller ATE test experience.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as JMP.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science required. Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
