Senior Staff Applications Engineer - Timing Signoff
Role Summary
Provide hands-on, customer-facing technical support and methodology guidance for timing and power signoff flows using Synopsys toolsets. Work with customers, global applications teams, and R&D to resolve tape-out blockers, create demos and training, and translate field requirements into product improvements.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Guidance: 8 to 15 years of experience in timing analysis, signoff tools, or related applications engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide hands-on technical support for customers during tape-out using PrimeTime, PrimeShield, PrimeClosure, PrimePower, RedHawk-SC, and HSPICE signoff flows.
- Diagnose complex timing, power, and signoff issues; perform netlist analysis, constraint debugging, and correlation investigations.
- Run beta evaluations, build proof-of-concept demos, and drive adoption of new product features into customer workflows.
- Capture customer requirements and translate project pain points into actionable enhancement requests for product teams.
- Develop and deliver technical training and documentation for customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with global applications and R&D teams to align on escalations, feature priorities, and methodology best practices.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Extensive hands-on experience with static timing analysis concepts and signoff flows, particularly PrimeTime.
- Experience with power analysis and signoff tools such as PrimePower or RedHawk-SC.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in complex digital design environments.
- Proven ability to work directly with customers in a technical consulting or applications engineering capacity.
- Experience with SPICE-level simulation tools (HSPICE) is a plus.
- Ability to coordinate across time zones and drive customer escalations to closure.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
