Senior / Principal Power Module Quality Engineer (m/f/d)
Role Summary
Lead quality management and qualification strategy for next-generation SiC and GaN power module products across development, manufacturing, test and customer support. Collaborate with R&D, reliability, manufacturing and test teams to define qualification plans, drive failure analysis, and implement reliability and quality measures for industrial and automotive applications.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 7 years' experience in a similar position.
Responsibilities
Accountable for quality strategy, qualification and failure analysis for power module products; support customers and cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Define quality requirements for power modules from design through manufacturing.
- Represent Quality Management for power module projects within development teams.
- Correlate failure mechanisms (including SiC/GaN) with reliability measures and product quality requirements.
- Define and execute product qualification approaches and test plans.
- Identify and characterize failure mechanisms early; link findings to performance and lifetime via simulation and analytics.
- Determine effects of stress factors on lifetime and establish pass/fail criteria aligned to customer application profiles.
- Manage reliability tests and failure analysis with internal and external partners; coordinate cross-functional investigations.
- Implement and maintain quality procedures and standards (e.g., JEDEC, AEC-Q, AQG 324, customer-specific standards).
- Provide customer-facing support for SiC/GaN power module issues; prepare quality reports and presentations.
- Document and analyze data for Reliability, Yield, FMEA and customer requests; drive containment and corrective actions for production issues.
- Create initial inputs for PCNs and support follow-up activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, behavioural requirements, and other practical expectations.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in a similar quality engineering role focused on power modules or related products.
- Experience with power module technology and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of semiconductor physics and device applications.
- Familiarity with measurement methods, device testing and test environments.
- Knowledge of international quality standards and policies (examples: AEC-Q101, AQG 324).
- Strong statistical data analysis skills and experience with analysis tools.
- Proficiency with standard software tools and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Good communication and presentation skills; fluent spoken and written English.
- Ability to work under pressure, influence stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and build trusted networks across functions.
- Willingness to travel within the EU (~<15%; up to ~30% if based in Catania).
Education Requirements
PhD or master’s degree preferred in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or a related technical discipline.
