Job Title
Senior NPI Product Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior NPI Product Engineer supports new product introduction (NPI) from concept through transfer to volume manufacturing. The role works with design, test, validation, quality, operations and external manufacturing partners to ensure products meet specifications and production requirements.
Primary focus areas include testability/manufacturability, product characterisation and yield optimisation, failure analysis, and continuous improvement activities under guidance of senior technical leadership.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 5–8 years of experience in semiconductor product, test, or design engineering.
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical support of NPI and production transfer, test development, characterisation and yield improvement activities.
- Support NPI activities and product transfer to full-volume manufacturing; prepare manufacturing documentation and release deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Test, Validation, Quality, Applications, Operations) to track NPI milestones and resolve issues.
- Define and support Design for Testability (DfT) and Design for Manufacturability (DfM) requirements under senior guidance.
- Assist development, verification and optimisation of ATE test programs and production test limits.
- Plan and execute wafer-level and bench characterisation tests; perform ATE-to-bench correlation and PVT data analysis.
- Support yield modelling, DOE planning and implementation, and identify yield-loss Pareto opportunities.
- Assist failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and development of corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for returns and RMA cases.
- Support product validation and reliability qualification activities and collaborate with foundry/packaging teams to resolve process issues.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required; additional skills listed as nice-to-have.
-
Must-have: 5–8 years in semiconductor product engineering, test engineering, or design engineering; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective written and verbal communication.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with statistical analysis and data tools (e.g. Excel, JMP) for interpretation and reporting.
-
Must-have: Foundational knowledge of semiconductor physics and analog/mixed-signal IC design principles.
-
Nice-to-have: Exposure to DFM, DFT and ATE methodologies; experience with high-speed digital ATE platforms (Advantest, Teradyne) or bench test equipment.
-
Nice-to-have: Awareness of semiconductor qualification and reliability test methodologies (JEDEC, HTOL, ESD, Latch-up).
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field required; Master’s degree is a plus. Internship or co-op experience in relevant semiconductor/test roles is considered.
