Job Title

Senior Mixed Signal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Raytheon Vision Systems mixed-signal ASIC/ROIC design team to develop image sensor products for visible and infrared focal plane arrays. Work in a multidisciplinary environment across architecture, design, verification, validation, fabrication, packaging, test development and failure analysis.

This position is onsite in Goleta, CA or Phoenix, AZ. U.S. citizenship is required.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, development, and verification of read-out ICs (ROICs) for visible and infrared focal plane arrays.
  • Evaluate design-to-manufacturing flow including synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis.
  • Define architecture, logic design, system-level simulation, and module interfaces for verification.
  • Design mixed-signal integrated circuits: analog signal chain, digital timing and image processing, and low-power 12–14 bit on-chip ADCs.
  • Support fabrication, packaging, chip bring-up, debugging, test development, and failure analysis.
  • Provide technical leadership on major design tasks; may include project-level responsibilities for schedule, budget and metrics tracking.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints:

  • Hands-on experience with full-custom CMOS IC design at the transistor level and IC design flows.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as Cadence and Mentor (Siemens); experience with MATLAB and scripting or programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with UNIX-based circuit simulation and analysis tools (including noise analysis) and physical design automation and verification.
  • Modeling and coding experience with SystemVerilog/Verilog-AMS and writing synthesizable RTL.
  • Familiarity with timing, power analysis, place-and-route flows and performing hand layout for critical analog/mixed-signal circuits.
  • U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates may be required to obtain a security clearance (DCSA CAS) as part of the hiring process.

Education Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). Commonly a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, or an advanced degree (e.g., MS) with a minimum of 3 years' experience. An advanced degree is preferred in some cases. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
