Role Summary
Senior/Principal firmware engineer responsible for developing VHDL/Verilog FPGA firmware and integrating it with hardware and systems. The role focuses on producing robust, verifiable firmware for safety-critical or embedded applications and supporting integration and verification activities.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 5 years of professional firmware/HDL development experience; experience at a principal level preferred.
Responsibilities
The role combines hands-on HDL development with systems integration and technical documentation.
- Design, implement, and maintain VHDL/Verilog firmware for FPGA-based systems.
- Collaborate with Systems and Hardware teams to define interfaces and integration plans.
- Perform integration, verification, and debugging of firmware on target hardware.
- Use FPGA toolchains for synthesis, simulation, timing closure and bitstream generation.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, and verification evidence.
- Ensure firmware meets DO-254 and other applicable safety or compliance requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship of junior engineers.
