Job Title

Senior Engineer, Physical Design Engineering

Role Summary

Responsible for physical implementation and signoff of complex mixed-signal SoCs manufactured in advanced process nodes. The role focuses on floorplanning, power planning, place-and-route, clock tree synthesis, parasitic extraction and timing closure to deliver production tapeouts.

Member of the Physical Design Engineering team supporting high-speed processor and signal-processing hardware across the Bangalore/Hyderabad sites.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting requests approximately 4–8 years of experience in digital place-and-route and physical design.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Perform physical implementation and PnR signoff for complex high-speed SoC designs.
  • Develop floorplans and power plans; perform place-and-route and clock planning/CTS.
  • Execute parasitic extraction and static timing analysis; develop and maintain timing constraints for signoff.
  • Manage tapeout activities and coordinate with design, backend and foundry teams.
  • Improve and automate flows to meet quality-of-result (QoR) targets and ensure predictability.
  • Document implementation choices and mentor junior engineers as needed.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 4–8 years of experience in digital place-and-route and physical design engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with PnR signoff of complex, high-speed SoC designs in advanced process technologies (examples cited: 22 nm, 16 nm, 7 nm).
  • Experience handling tapeout flow for high-speed SoCs.
  • Strong skills in floorplanning, power planning, place-and-route, clock planning and clock tree synthesis.
  • Expertise in static timing analysis, constraint development and timing signoff.
  • Proficiency with scripting (TCL, Perl, or similar) to automate flows.
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 10%).

Nice-to-have:

  • Understanding of device/interconnect and circuit aspects of UDSM technologies.

Education Requirements

BTech or MTech degree in Electrical / Electronic engineering from a reputed institute (as stated). The posting specifies this degree requirement; no alternative-equivalent wording was provided.
