Job Title

Senior EDA Tools Hardware Engineer

Role Summary

As a Senior EDA Tools Hardware Engineer within Intel's Central Engineering Group (CEG), you will design, implement, and enable hardware design tools, flows, and methodologies for advanced technology nodes. You will work with internal design teams and external EDA vendors to develop, validate, and deploy automation and verification solutions that improve power, performance, area, and overall design efficiency.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical experience guidance: 7+ years with a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years with a Master's degree, or 3+ years with a PhD (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

The role focuses on tool development, methodology definition, and system-level verification for advanced hardware design.

  • Design, implement, and verify hardware design tools, flows, and methodologies for advanced nodes.
  • Develop hardware test designs and integrate components into hierarchical systems for end-to-end EDA tool testing.
  • Build platforms, databases, scripts, and automated flows to enhance design automation capabilities.
  • Test, debug, and analyze EDA tools to ensure reliability, functionality, and quality.
  • Analyze and optimize methodologies for power, performance, area, and efficiency.
  • Support digital design, verification, structural and physical layout, full-chip integration, power optimization, clocking, and timing methodologies.
  • Collaborate with EDA vendors to define, test, and adopt next-generation design tools.

Requirements

Minimum technical requirements (must-have):

  • Practical experience with EDA tools and methodologies, including debugging and problem-solving.
  • Experience in physical design, optimization, and tools flows & methodology (TFM) development.
  • Experience analyzing and improving software/tool quality and reliability.
  • Experience in digital design, verification, and structural layout.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with EDA vendors and external partners.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with power-performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with formal verification methods.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another STEM field is listed. Intel specifies alternative experience paths in lieu of higher degrees: 7+ years of relevant hardware design/development experience with a Bachelor's, 5+ years with a Master's, or 3+ years with a PhD. Qualifications may also be met through a combination of industry experience, internships, coursework, or research.
