Job Title

Senior Digital Design Engineer - High-Speed I/O and Photonics

Role Summary

Join the mixed-signal high-speed I/O team to design digital front-end and back-end components for PHY IPs and silicon photonics chips used in high-performance interconnects (NVLINK, Ethernet, InfiniBand). Work spans micro-architecture, RTL and firmware implementation, synthesis and timing closure, and post-silicon bring-up and characterization.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typically requires 5+ years of experience in high-speed digital design and related front-end and back-end flows.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include frontend and backend digital design, collaboration with analog and system teams, and post-silicon validation.

  • Develop RTL for high-speed DSPs, silicon photonics IPs, and chip-level features.
  • Define micro-architecture, programming model, and application interfaces in collaboration with architects and analog designers.
  • Implement calibration and adaptation algorithms and translate them into RTL and firmware.
  • Create synthesis constraints, drive timing closure, and evaluate PPA trade-offs from synthesis and P&R feedback.
  • Participate in silicon bring-up, develop test/debugging scripts, perform characterization and performance tuning.
  • Work cross-functionally to prepare designs for production and ensure successful product delivery.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in high-speed digital design with proficiency in front-end design flow and tools.
  • Deep knowledge of Verilog or SystemVerilog and digital logic design concepts.
  • Experience with design-for-test, timing constraints, and static timing analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry verification methodologies such as UVM.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of optical transceiver devices and integrated components (modulators, detectors, TIAs).
  • Experience with SerDes architecture and blocks (CDR, DFE, CTLE, TXFIR).
  • Experience with digital assist for analog designs, calibration techniques, and mixed-signal behavior modeling.
  • Familiarity with physical layer protocols (Ethernet, InfiniBand, PCIe, USB) and on-chip microcontrollers or hardware/firmware co-design.

Education Requirements

B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
