Senior CPU Performance Architect

Role Summary

The Senior CPU Performance Architect analyzes real-world workloads and designs tools and infrastructure to identify and remove CPU and system-level performance bottlenecks. The role sits on the CPU performance architecture team and informs CPU and system design across markets including cloud service providers, HPC, AI/DL, gaming, and autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include analyzing workloads, building tooling, and collaborating with architects to improve performance.

  • Study and characterize workloads across CSP, HPC, AI/DL, gaming, and autonomous vehicle domains.
  • Develop infrastructure and visualizations to expose CPU performance bottlenecks on important workloads.
  • Create and maintain performance analysis tools and pipelines.
  • Analyze and debug performance scaling issues on multi-core and multi-socket CPU and CPU/GPU systems.
  • Collaborate with CPU architects and system teams to recommend design and software changes based on analysis findings.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience expected for immediate contribution.

  • 12+ years of relevant industry experience in CPU performance analysis or related fields.
  • Experience with data visualization techniques and proficiency in Python.
  • Familiarity with compiler concepts.
  • Experience with modern web development technologies such as JavaScript, D3, and Django, and familiarity with CI/CD practices.
  • Proven experience analyzing CPU workloads and performing performance analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of CPU microarchitecture and performance behavior.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in performance programming and software optimization.
  • Knowledge of GPU-accelerated workloads.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, enterprise security protocols, and SQLite.
  • PhD or research experience.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. PhD or research experience is listed as a distinguishing qualification.
