Job Title
Senior Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Design and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers. The role sits in the Acacia mixed-signal IC design group and collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to deliver chips for 100G, 400G and 1T optical products.
Experience Level
Senior β this role requires senior-level experience and technical leadership; see Education Requirements for degree and years guidance.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include architecture, detailed design, verification, and production of mixed-signal IC blocks.
- Architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog/mixed-signal ICs.
- Lead design efforts for large blocks on complex chips, mentor engineers, and track deliverables.
- Participate in peer reviews and define robust design methodology from concept through production.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
- Develop and characterize high-speed AMS circuits and support silicon bring-up and validation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Education and years-of-experience details are listed under Education Requirements.
- Hands-on design, simulation and measurement experience in high-speed AMS areas such as SERDES, data converters, PLLs/clocking, output drivers, op-amps, programmable gain amplifiers, equalization, and voltage regulators.
- High-frequency layout and floorplanning experience for mixed-signal designs (power/ground, signal routing).
- Experience with mixed-signal simulation tools and flows (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab) and AMS simulations.
- Experience designing for manufacturability and familiarity with ESD laboratory practices and methodology.
- Ability to lead cross-functional design reviews and mentor team members on complex IC projects.
- Nice-to-have: experience with FinFET technology, passive RF components (inductors, transformers, transmission lines), custom transistor layouts, and EM/field-solver tools.
Education Requirements
Degree and equivalent-experience options listed in the posting: BSEE with 12+ years experience, or MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Field indicated: Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree/experience).
