Job Title
Senior AI SoC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Intel's AI SoC organization to define and implement SoC microarchitecture and RTL for AI-focused computing platforms. Work on design, integration, and handoff of SoC blocks across engineering teams to meet functional, performance, power, and area goals.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer. Typical experience expectation: senior-level (see Education Requirements for degree-linked experience alternatives).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include hands-on design work, cross-team integration, and driving quality delivery.
- Define microarchitecture and implement RTL for SoC blocks.
- Develop, code, and simulate RTL (SystemVerilog) for complex blocks.
- Integrate IP from internal and external providers into the SoC.
- Collaborate with verification, firmware, and physical design teams to meet functional, timing, area, and power targets.
- Ensure design quality around clock/reset/power-domain crossings and timing constraints.
- Drive high-quality design handoffs to verification, physical design, firmware, and packaging teams.
- Participate in next-generation architecture discussions and trade-off decisions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Hands-on RTL design, coding, and simulation experience using SystemVerilog.
- Practical experience with microarchitecture and SoC architecture design.
- Knowledge of system-level design trade-offs for power, performance, and area.
- Experience collaborating with IP providers and cross-functional teams (verification, firmware, physical design).
- Ability to define and apply timing constraints and ensure design quality at block and system level.
Nice-to-have / preferred
- Understanding of AI models and how they influence hardware architecture decisions.
- Strong communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Track record of disciplined execution and delivering under tight schedules.
- Experience implementing clock/reset and power-domain crossings both logically and physically.
- History of driving innovative solutions to complex design challenges.
Education Requirements
Minimum experience alternatives tied to education: 7+ years experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years with a Master’s degree, or 3+ years with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
