Job Title
R&D Engineering Scientist
Role Summary
Lead architecture and pathfinding for next-generation Memory PHY solutions (DDR, HBM, LPDDR, die-to-die, SerDes), driving circuit and system-level integration and guiding global engineering teams to deliver IP products.
Position is US-wide (remote or hybrid) with a preference for on-site collaboration in Boxborough, MA.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires approximately 15β20+ years of experience in high-speed interface or memory PHY design or equivalent depth of expertise.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Lead architecture and pathfinding for Memory PHY solutions across DDR, HBM, LPDDR, D2D, and SerDes.
- Drive advanced circuit development: high-speed I/O, link design, and signal/power integrity optimization.
- Translate customer and industry requirements into scalable PHY architectures and product definitions.
- Guide and influence global engineering teams (architecture, design, verification) to deliver best-in-class IP.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers to strengthen circuit and PHY design capability.
- Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic goals affecting product and business direction.
- Engage with key customers and industry stakeholders to shape roadmap and maintain leadership in Memory IP.
- Drive innovation in performance, speed scaling, and design methodologies for next-generation interfaces.
Requirements
Essential skills and experience:
- Proven experience with DDR, LPDDR, HBM, and/or die-to-die / SerDes technologies.
- Expertise in PHY architecture, high-speed I/O and link design, signal integrity, and power integrity.
- Advanced circuit design experience for high-performance interfaces and a track record of delivering products from concept through silicon.
- Demonstrated ability to influence large, cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Experience working directly with customers to translate system requirements into product solutions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading globally distributed technical teams and mentoring senior engineers.
- Prior work on AI, HPC, or data-center interface designs.
Education Requirements
PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience accepted.
