Role Summary

This role sits in the Product Quality Management & Engineering team of the Integrated Circuit Solutions (ICS) group and manages customer-reported product issues for analog and mixed-signal ICs. The engineer leads failure analysis, root-cause investigations, CAPA implementation, and technical communication with customers and internal stakeholders.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” around 5 years of relevant experience in semiconductor quality, failure analysis, product engineering, or reliability engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Receive, log, prioritize, and manage customer complaints such as electrical failures, reliability issues, assembly defects, and field returns.
  • Plan and coordinate failure analysis with FA labs, define analysis plans, review results, and produce clear technical reports for customers.
  • Lead structured root-cause investigations using methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions by coordinating cross-functional teams (process, test, quality, R&D).
  • Communicate technical findings and status updates to customers and internal management through formal reports and summaries.
  • Analyze production, test, and reliability data to support investigations and detect trends.
  • Prepare detailed documentation including 8D reports, technical summaries, and management updates.
  • Identify systemic issues and recommend continuous improvement actions to enhance product quality and process robustness.
  • Ensure investigations comply with relevant industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with global teams across manufacturing sites, suppliers, and engineering functions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Practical experience in semiconductor quality, failure analysis, product engineering, or reliability engineering.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor devices, packaging, and common failure mechanisms.
  • Hands-on familiarity with failure analysis techniques (SEM, EDX, X-ray, decapsulation, cross-sectioning, FIB, curve tracing, OBIRCH).
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes (wafer fab, assembly, test, reliability testing).
  • Experience with root-cause and quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, DOE, and 5-Why.
  • Ability to interpret electrical test data, reliability results, and production metrics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing technical discussion and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Analytical, structured, and detail-oriented problem-solving mindset; able to manage multiple investigations under time pressure.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience working with global customers in automotive, industrial, or consumer electronics sectors.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality and reliability standards and customer-specific requirements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
