Job Title

Principal Mixed-Signal/Analog Design Engineer - Power/ATE

Role Summary

Principal engineer in the Instrumentation group responsible for designing high-performance mixed-signal ICs and companion DC/DC converters for ATE power management products. The role covers architecture, circuit design, verification, layout supervision, lab evaluation, and cross-functional integration.

Works closely with layout, test, digital design, and verification teams and provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 10+ years of relevant mixed-signal/analog IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop system and circuit architectures and specify individual circuit blocks for mixed-signal ICs and integrated power solutions.
  • Perform transistor-level circuit design, simulation, and verification for amplifiers, biasing, switches, LDOs, ADCs, DACs, and related blocks.
  • Optimize designs for power, performance, area, and reliability; ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Supervise layout activities and run post-layout simulation and verification.
  • Lead lab evaluation, characterization, and debug; provide test development guidance to test teams.
  • Prepare design documentation and conduct design reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (digital, verification, packaging, test) on block and system integration and bring products to production.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and lead technical decisions on complex products.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant mixed-signal/analog IC design experience.
  • Expertise in highly linear amplifiers, bias blocks, switches, digital I/O, LDOs, ADCs and DACs.
  • Extensive experience with Cadence design, simulation, layout, and verification tools for analog/mixed-signal designs.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics (CMOS transistors, diodes, capacitors, inductors, resistors) and transistor-level design.
  • Advanced circuit analysis skills, including awareness of model limitations, high-frequency effects, and temperature behavior.
  • Hands-on lab experience characterizing and debugging mixed-signal designs and supporting test development.
  • Good intuition for package and layout parasitics and experience with extracted simulations.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, teamwork, and demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and introduce products to market.

Nice-to-have:

  • Analog/digital behavioral modeling and synthesis experience for control blocks and state machines.
  • High-voltage design experience and multi-die/SIP-level laminate expertise.
  • Prior experience leading teams or projects.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE/M.S.) or equivalent; or equivalent practical experience. The source specifies a Master's degree plus 10+ years of relevant experience as the minimum qualification.
