Job Title
Principal Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
As a senior member of the Design Verification Team, you will lead functional verification of SoC designs used for high-speed data transfer. You will architect verification environments, develop tests and reference models, and work with designers to ensure designs meet specifications.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires extensive verification experience. Expect ~10+ years of verification and firmware/software development experience; reduced experience may be accepted with an advanced degree. See Education Requirements for degree guidance.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development and execution of verification environments and tools:
- Design verification environment architecture, including reference models and bus-functional monitors/drivers.
- Write verification test plans using random techniques and coverage analysis.
- Develop tests, tune environments to reach coverage goals, debug failures and collaborate with designers to resolve issues.
- Verify boot code and develop/maintain tools for multi-core SoC development and scalable parallel compute environments.
- Translate engineering requirements into usable, scalable software tools; perform unit and regression testing of tools.
- Participate in problem solving and quality improvement activities; document and communicate findings.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, verification methodology, and behaviors:
- Extensive SoC verification experience and testbench development using UVM and SystemVerilog.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and use of DPI for verification interfaces.
- Strong understanding of verification methodologies: object-oriented design, directed/random testing, coverage-driven verification, and gate-level simulation concepts.
- Experience debugging complex failures, analyzing datasets, and drawing valid conclusions from verification results.
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to communicate with designers and cross-functional teams.
- Bias for initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Export-control eligibility may be required for access to certain technologies; candidates may undergo export license review.
Education Requirements
BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with 10+ years of verification and firmware/software development experience; or MS/PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
