Job Title
Principal Analog Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead architect and designer for high-performance analog power management integrated circuits (PMICs and power converters). The role drives circuit and transistor-level design, simulation, validation, and cross-functional integration to deliver production-grade power ICs.
Position sits in Qorvo’s Power Management division and requires collaboration with system, layout, test, and global design teams to meet targets for efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
Experience Level
Senior / Professional. The posting requests 12+ years of engineering experience and 8+ years specifically in analog and mixed-signal IC design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, detailed design, and handoff to layout and test for analog power ICs.
- Lead design and development of analog power management ICs focusing on efficiency, power density, and reliability.
- Define product architecture and specifications with system engineers, balancing performance, power, and cost.
- Select and implement circuit topologies to meet robustness, yield, and manufacturability targets.
- Perform transistor-level design, simulation, and validation to meet functional and performance specifications.
- Collaborate closely with layout engineers to optimize floorplanning, parasitics, and silicon performance.
- Coordinate with global design teams to align development strategy and schedules.
- Partner with test and characterization teams to define validation plans, troubleshoot issues, and optimize production test approaches.
- Lead technical reviews and produce design documentation describing decisions, analysis, and trade-offs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 12+ years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of analog and mixed-signal IC design experience, including DC-DC power converter architectures and control methodologies (voltage-mode and current-mode control).
- Experience with EDA and verification flows relevant to power ICs (parasitic extraction, EMIR/capacitive coupling analysis, floating-node handling, etc.).
- Track record of production release of power management ICs.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (layout, test, system engineers) and coordinating with global colleagues.
- Nice-to-have: experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Simplis, ADS, and hands-on lab experience supporting high-frequency switching power supplies.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering. The posting also accepts an equivalent amount of education and experience in place of the listed degrees.
