Job Title

Photonics Chip Lead

Role Summary

Lead delivery and design of Photonic ICs (PICs) for a key product segment within Celestial Photonics. Own photonic architecture, routing, schematic modeling and physical implementation, and coordinate integration with ASIC, analog/digital, and packaging teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience range: mid-to-senior engineer with 5–15 years of relevant industry experience (see Education Requirements for degree/years guidance).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include end-to-end PIC design and cross-functional integration:

  • Deliver Photonic IC designs from architecture through physical implementation and verification.
  • Define photonic routing, perform link-budget analysis, and validate system-level integration requirements.
  • Perform schematic capture, modeling and photonic circuit simulation to verify performance.
  • Collaborate with analog, digital, ASIC, packaging and system teams to ensure manufacturability and integration.
  • Ensure the PIC meets product specifications and integration constraints.
  • Contribute to Silicon Photonics device and subsystem design to support the Photonics PDK.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with complete Silicon Photonics PIC development: architecture, routing, link-budget and system integration.
  • Photonic circuit modeling and simulation using tools such as Lumerical, Photon Design, RSoft, VPI or similar.
  • Physical design/layout experience with Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor or similar tools.
  • Experience in PIC co-design with ASICs and digital control blocks.
  • Experience using data analysis tools (JMP, DataConductor or similar).
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration and project ownership.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with photonic PDKs and CMOS integration flows.
  • Experience targeting data-center interconnect or photonic fabric architectures.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field with 10–15 years of related professional experience, OR a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 5–10 years of related professional experience.
