Package Application Engineer (1-Year Contract)
Role Summary
The Package Application Engineer designs and validates product packing methods to meet Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), EIA/IEC standards, and manufacturing requirements. The role supports product development projects to ensure post-assembly product quality during storage and transport and to provide customer-friendly packing solutions.
Works cross-functionally with design, supplier quality, procurement and customers to implement and control packing materials and processes.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No specific years of experience stated. This is a 1-year contract position.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop packing methods (carrier tape, cover tape, PQ/SPQ labels, inner boxes, MBB) that meet design requirements, standards, supplier capability and customer application needs.
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigations using Design FMEA and fitting/simulation analysis.
- Define and drive control methodology for product packing processes and own material design change control.
- Ensure packing materials are implemented across the entire development lifecycle.
- Assess supplier capabilities with procurement and supplier quality; provide expert support for customer change requests and complaints.
Requirements
Core skills and experience expected:
- Must-have: Knowledge of IC/discrete package design; experience with simulation, Design FMEA and CAD tools; strong problem-solving skills; customer focus and ability to work with minimal supervision; good written and spoken English; willingness to travel occasionally.
- Nice-to-have: Experience in solder footprint design; experience handling customers; proficiency in Putonghua.
- Good interpersonal and presentation skills for cross-site and cross-functional collaboration.
Education Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field required. A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
