Job Title

MTS Silicon Photonics Integration

Role Summary

This role supports the 300mm technology development integration team at Fab 8, owning process integration of silicon photonic devices from development through qualification and production.

The position collaborates with device, process-module, and packaging teams and engages with customers to deliver I/O solutions while balancing quality, cost, and delivery metrics.

Experience Level

Mid-level — candidate is expected to be an experienced contributor with project leadership responsibilities (guidance in source: 5+ years of relevant experience tied to graduate degrees).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include ownership of integration modules, development execution, and cross-functional coordination to transfer silicon photonics technologies to production.

  • Own integration module development and qualification for silicon photonics I/O.
  • Collaborate with device, process-module, and packaging teams to define and implement I/O solutions.
  • Drive process development, Cp/Cpk improvements, defect reduction, and cost reduction for integrated modules.
  • Lead medium to large projects; act as a technical leader influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Hands-on experience in silicon photonics integration and process integration for photonic I/O.
  • Proven ability to improve yield and process capability (Cp/Cpk) and reduce defects and cost.
  • Experience leading projects and providing technical guidance to teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-have:

  • Structured problem solving skills and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong presentation and technical writing abilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external partners.
  • Background in photonics and CMOS device physics, semiconductor processing, and device characterization.

Education Requirements

PhD or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics, or a related engineering or physical science discipline; the posting specifies these degrees with approximately 5+ years of relevant work experience.
