Intern - Automotive MCU NPI
Role Summary
Provide part-time support for new product introduction (NPI) activities for automotive microcontrollers, focused on the NXP S32K5xx and S32K1xx product families. Work with engineering and documentation teams to produce training materials, code samples, tests, and product collateral to improve customer experience.
This is a 12-month internship with dedicated training and mentoring from two team members.
Experience Level
Internship / Entry-level. Designed for students or early-career candidates. Part-time; 12-month assignment.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include engineering support, documentation, testing, and customer-facing training:
- Assist team members in creating documentation and collateral for Automotive S32K5xx and S32K1xx microcontrollers.
- Develop and maintain code samples and application notes for S32K products.
- Provide training and respond to customer questions regarding S32K5xx and S32K1xx products.
- Measure and capture power consumption and other platform data.
- Test software versions, middleware stacks, and supported operating systems.
- Validate silicon modules and software drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CAN, LIN, and PWM.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product content and customer experience.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes:
- Basic knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CAN, LIN, PWM).
- Ability to write and review technical documentation and code samples.
- Ability to run measurements and record power consumption data.
- Familiarity with software testing and debugging on embedded platforms.
- Good communication and teamwork skills; willingness to be trained and coached.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with NXP S32K family or automotive MCU platforms.
