Job Title

FPGA / VLSI Engineer

Role Summary

Design and validate digital logic for ASIC/SoC platforms used in communication systems, with emphasis on RTL, FPGA prototyping, and system integration. Work within the engineering team supporting LEO satellite and related communications hardware.

Focus areas include synthesizable RTL, FPGA bring-up, timing closure, and interaction with verification, ASIC, and software teams to deliver production-ready designs.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting does not specify exact years of experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include RTL design, FPGA validation, and SoC integration:

  • Design and implement synthesizable RTL (SystemVerilog) with attention to timing, power, and area.
  • Perform FPGA prototyping, implementation, validation, and hardware bring-up for digital designs.
  • Develop and execute simulation and debugging strategies at block and subsystem levels.
  • Contribute to SoC-level integration, interfacing with processors, memory, and peripherals.
  • Analyze and resolve timing issues, including setup/hold violations and basic clock-domain crossings.
  • Collaborate with verification, ASIC, and software teams and participate in design reviews.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints; preferred skills listed as nice-to-have.

  • Must-have: Strong experience writing synthesizable SystemVerilog/Verilog and solid understanding of digital design fundamentals and timing analysis.
  • Must-have: Proven experience with FPGA development flows, including synthesis, implementation, validation, and hardware debug.
  • Must-have: Experience with FPGA prototyping and hardware bring-up for production designs.
  • Must-have: Ability to debug across simulation and hardware and produce timing-aware RTL.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with SoC FPGA platforms (e.g., Xilinx Zynq, Intel SoC FPGA) and familiarity with AXI/AHB or similar bus protocols.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to ASIC design flow (synthesis and STA), high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet), or communications systems (5G PHY/MAC concepts).
  • Must have work authorization for the U.S. location; the employer cannot provide sponsorship for this role.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
