Role Summary

Design and verify FPGA-based hardware for low-latency, high-performance algorithmic trading systems. The role is on an engineering team supporting a trading desk and combines FPGA development, verification, and performance optimization.

Work includes hardware platform development, improving end-to-end latency, and collaborating with software and trading engineers to deploy production FPGA solutions.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, verification, and performance tuning of FPGA systems used in production trading.

• Design and implement FPGA logic (Verilog/VHDL) for low-latency systems.
• Develop and execute functional verification and static timing closure flows.
• Use simulation and verification tools to validate designs (ModelSim/QuestaSim/Riviera/Synopsys tools).
• Collaborate with trading and software teams to integrate FPGA solutions into algorithmic trading stacks.
• Profile and optimize performance-critical code and hardware to reduce latency.
• Develop and maintain hardware platforms and associated automation scripts.
• Identify areas for improvement and prototype performance optimizations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for immediate contribution.

Must-have:

• Hands-on FPGA development with Verilog or VHDL, including functional verification and static timing closure.
• Experience with FPGA design, simulation, and verification tools (examples: Synopsys, Riviera, ModelSim, QuestaSim).
• Familiarity with FPGAs/CPLDs from vendors such as Xilinx and Altera (Intel).
• Scripting skills for automation and tooling (Bash, TCL, and/or Python).
• Proven ability to work in fast-paced, mission-critical environments with strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-have:

• Background in algorithmic trading or low-latency/high-frequency systems.
• Experience designing new hardware platforms or end-to-end FPGA integration in production systems.
