Job Title
FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Join the FPGA engineering team to design, implement, and integrate FPGA-based subsystems for next-generation radar and sensor products. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to deliver production-ready FPGA capabilities for R&D and deployed systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level — requires 5+ years of professional FPGA/RTL design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing FPGA designs and supporting their integration and deployment.
- Design and implement complex FPGA RTL targeting next-generation sensor products.
- Perform behavioral simulation, timing analysis, place-and-route, and hardware integration validation.
- Integrate FPGA designs with software systems and modify drivers/applications to validate designs.
- Support deployed FPGA capabilities for U.S. and international customers, including troubleshooting and updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams during R&D and product engineering cycles.
- Work full-time on-site in the Hawthorne, CA office.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints.
- 5+ years of professional experience in detailed digital RTL design targeting FPGAs.
- Proven experience across the FPGA design lifecycle: RTL design, simulation, place and route, and timing analysis.
- Strong fluency in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Extensive experience with ARM AMBA AXI protocols (AXI4, AXI4-Lite, AXI4-Stream).
- Experience with AMD/Xilinx Vivado toolchain and SoC FPGAs (Zynq, Ultrascale/Ultrascale+, Versal).
- Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/UDP/IP) and serial interfaces (I2C, JTAG, UART, SPI, CAN).
- Proficiency with Bash and Python for scripting and testing; ability to modify drivers/applications as needed.
- Experience working in Agile environments with CI practices and test-driven approaches.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate on small, cross-functional teams.
- U.S. Person status required to access U.S.-restricted data systems.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- High-performance baseband signal processing implementation in FPGA.
- Translating algorithms from Simulink/MATLAB into RTL and using vendor IP.
- Driver development (C/C++/Python) and FPGA Ethernet IP (1G–100G).
- Experience with SDRs, analog transceivers, radar or airborne/ground sensor systems, time synchronization (NTP/PTP).
- HLS, VHDL, PCB design for high-speed digital boards, GPUs/AI engines, and CI tools (Bitbucket CI, Jenkins).
- Current or previous DoD security clearance.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
