Job Title

Forward Error Correction Intern

Role Summary

Part-time internship on the optical coherent transceiver team working on forward error correction (FEC) and DSP schemes. The intern will support algorithm design, digital architecture definition, implementation validation, and simulation for ASIC-based transceiver blocks.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Part-time role for candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering degree program.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities focus on design, simulation, and verification of FEC/DSP components for optical transceivers.

  • Design and validate optical-communication DSP and FEC algorithms.
  • Develop digital implementation architectures suitable for ASIC/HDL implementation.
  • Write software for simulation of communication systems and algorithm verification.
  • Implement and validate RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) testbenches and verification flows.
  • Collaborate with engineers to debug, optimize, and document designs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and traits for successful contribution.

  • Knowledge of digital communication systems.
  • Strong system modeling and simulation skills.
  • Proficient programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with Verilog and SystemVerilog for RTL design and verification.
  • Good written and oral communication; ability to work in a team.
