Field Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Customer-facing engineer on the Sales team responsible for design-in, integration, and support of Broadcom PCIe switch and retimer products for cloud service providers, OEMs, and channel customers.
Primary duties include requirements capture, architecture and schematic reviews, hands-on debug and silicon bring-up support, customer training, and advocacy for product improvements.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 8 years of experience working with cloud service providers and server OEMs on complex PCIe-based designs.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical enablement, design support, and customer issue resolution.
- Analyze, debug, and root-cause issues in PCIe switch and retimer products with customers and internal engineering teams.
- Support integration of Broadcom PCIe products into GPUs, AI/ML platforms, storage servers, and custom server designs.
- Perform architecture and schematic reviews; provide design-in guidance and training on product features and tools.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships; advocate for product enhancements and expedite fixes when needed.
- Provide on-site support for critical debug and training as required; occasional travel expected.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional attributes for successful performance.
- Minimum 8 years working with cloud service providers and server OEMs on PCIe-based server, storage, or AI/ML designs.
- Hands-on, thorough knowledge of high-speed protocols such as PCIe.
- Silicon bring-up and system-level debug experience in customer systems.
- Proven customer-facing experience: able to communicate technical solutions clearly to customers and internal teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; organized with ability to produce clear, concise notes and action items.
- Self-motivated, customer-oriented, and able to work independently in a changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; strong interpersonal skills.
- Availability for occasional travel.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in engineering is preferred.
