Job Title

Experienced Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for serial communications as a member of MACOM's product development team. Work covers schematic and simulation, prototype evaluation and debug, silicon bring-up, and support through product qualification and release.

Role requires cross-functional collaboration with system, test, and product teams; the position includes hands-on lab work and occasional travel.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” minimum of 5 years of analog/high-speed IC design experience is required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design and simulate high-frequency/high-speed analog and mixed-signal blocks (e.g., equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, TIAs, ADCs/DACs).
  • Develop and execute circuit simulations and system-level models to meet performance targets.
  • Perform prototype evaluation, debug, and silicon bring-up using lab instrumentation.
  • Support product development through definition, verification, qualification, and release stages.
  • Document test results, design choices, and release artifacts; present findings to technical and management audiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (layout, test, process, system) to ensure product success.
  • Travel as required to support testing, production, or customer engagements.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of analog IC design experience focused on high-frequency/high-speed blocks in CMOS and/or BiCMOS technologies.
  • Demonstrated silicon success delivering Gbps equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, transimpedance amplifiers, ADCs/DACs, or similar products/blocks.
  • Strong understanding of analog and high-frequency circuit design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with EDA design tools and circuit simulators.
  • Hands-on lab experience with real-time and sampling oscilloscopes, signal/pattern generators, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers; experience with prototype evaluation and debug.
  • Ability to support a product through the entire development and release cycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and management audiences.
  • Willingness to travel when required.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with electromagnetic tools (EMX/HFSS) and system-level simulators (ADS, MATLAB).
  • System-level knowledge of transmission and reception functions for wired or optical links.

Education Requirements

MSEE (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering) is required.
