Job Title

Experienced Analog/Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for serial communications as part of MACOM's product development team. Work spans circuit design, simulation, prototype evaluation, silicon bring-up, and product qualification.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Requires approximately 5+ years of analog/high-frequency IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for design, simulation, evaluation and support of high-speed analog/mixed-signal blocks through product development and qualification.

  • Design and simulate analog and mixed-signal circuits for serial communication links.
  • Develop and validate high-frequency/high-speed blocks (equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, TIAs, ADCs/DACs).
  • Perform electromagnetic and system-level simulations and interpret results.
  • Lead prototype evaluation, lab characterization and silicon bring-up; debug using bench equipment.
  • Support product through definition, development, release and qualification phases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical status to engineering and management.
  • Travel as required for project needs.

Requirements

Essential skills and experience. "Nice-to-have" items listed separately.

  • Minimum 5 years analog IC design experience in high-frequency/high-speed blocks (CMOS and/or BiCMOS).
  • Proven track record of silicon success on relevant blocks/products (e.g., Gbps equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, TIAs, ADCs/DACs).
  • Strong understanding of analog and high-frequency circuit design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with EDA design and circuit simulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment for prototype evaluation and debug (oscilloscopes, signal/pattern generators, spectrum analyzers, VNAs).
  • Ability to characterize products in the lab and support qualification activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and management audiences.
  • Willingness to travel when required.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with electromagnetic tools (EMX/HFSS) and system-level simulators (ADS, MATLAB).
  • System-level knowledge of wired or optical link transmission/reception functions.

Education Requirements

M.S.E.E. (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering) is specified in the posting. No alternate degrees or explicit "or equivalent experience" language was provided in the source.
