Job Title

DRAM Design Technology Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Translate schematics into physical layout used to create fabrication reticles for DRAM products. Work with design, CAD, yield and process engineering groups to produce and verify block-level layouts that meet process, yield, and scheduling requirements.

Apply layout and verification techniques for digital and analog circuits, support tapeout processes, and coordinate across global teams to meet delivery milestones.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 3+ years of relevant layout experience in advanced CMOS processes.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop IP block layouts for DRAM chips and deliver on schedule with required quality.
  • Perform physical verification (LVS/DRC/EM), quality checks, and maintain documentation.
  • Optimize layout area and routing for yield, reliability, and performance.
  • Analyze and mitigate layout-related effects (electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, parasitics, matching, shielding).
  • Estimate area/time, plan work, and coordinate execution across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Present layout plans and results to global teams and integrate feedback from circuit designers and CAD teams.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

Must-have:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in layout design for advanced CMOS processes.
  • Proven ability to perform IP layout development and physical verification for complex designs.
  • Expertise in layout area and routing optimization, design rules, yield and reliability concerns.
  • Solid understanding of how layout affects speed, capacitance, power, and area.
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso (schematic and layout) and verification tools such as Mentor Calibre.
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to area, power, performance and physical verification issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-location team environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Skill coding and layout automation experience.
  • Leadership, multi-tasking ability, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field. Posting states a technical/EE background is necessary and allows equivalent practical experience as an alternative.
