Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
The DFT Engineer will develop and verify design-for-test features for mixed-signal audio SoCs used in consumer mobile audio products. The role sits on the mixed-signal audio development team and focuses on memory BIST, scan insertion, ATPG, coverage improvement, and delivering test patterns to product test and ATE teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level β typically requires around 2+ years of industry experience (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include DFT implementation, verification, and test delivery:
- Define, implement, and review DFT features within a cross-functional team.
- Generate, insert, and verify Memory BIST logic.
- Perform scan insertion and ATPG pattern generation and verification (including gate-level sims).
- Develop and review DFT timing and equivalence checking constraints.
- Identify coverage gaps and implement improvements.
- Perform test cost planning and analysis.
- Deliver MBIST and ATPG patterns to product test and support silicon bring-up on ATE.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints:
- Hands-on experience with ASIC DFT design and verification.
- Experience with industry-standard DFT/ATPG/MBIST tools such as FastScan, TestKompress, TetraMAX, Test Compiler, or similar.
- Experience with MBIST and ATPG pattern verification using gate-level simulation.
- Ability to perform test cost planning and deliver test patterns to production test groups.
- Must be able to access technical data without a requirement for an export license; employer cannot sponsor export licenses for this role.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
- Understanding of low-power test techniques and architectures.
- Scripting skills (Perl, Python, TCL) and experience with flows and automation.
- Experience with synthesis, static timing analysis, and developing timing constraints.
- Experience debugging and root-causing silicon issues; strong written and oral communication skills.
Education Requirements
M.S.E.E. with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a B.S. with relevant industry experience (as stated in the posting).
