Design Engineer - Verification (New College Graduate, 2026)

Role Summary

Entry-level hardware design verification role focused on verification of RISC-V architecture processors/cores and related IP. Work on testbench and test plan development, test creation and debug, coverage closure, and verification methodology and flow improvements.

The role is part of a verification team supporting ASIC/SoC development and requires practical use of modern verification tools and hardware description languages.

Experience Level

Entry-level / New College Graduate. Suitable for recent graduates or candidates with internship/co-op experience; typical experience 0–2 years.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification activities for processor/core designs and supporting verification infrastructure.

  • Review design and RISC-V standard specifications to derive verification requirements.
  • Develop testbenches, create test plans and test cases, and perform test case debug.
  • Drive coverage analysis and closure activities.
  • Contribute to modeling, verification flow, and methodology development.
  • Collaborate with design and IP teams to support SOC/IP verification processes.
  • Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements in day-to-day activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful performance in the role.

  • Proficiency with Hardware Description Languages such as Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Understanding of IP development/verification and SOC development/verification processes.
  • Familiarity with UNIX operating systems and basic assembly programming.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn new tools and languages quickly.
  • Nice-to-have: prior internship or co-op experience related to hardware verification; leadership or project experience.

Education Requirements

On the date of joining: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering, or a related field with substantial coursework in computer architecture and VLSI design. Candidates must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
