CPU Validation Engineer

Role Summary

The CPU Validation Engineer will work on post-silicon system validation for next-generation Intel processors, partnering with architecture and design teams to ensure features meet quality and coverage targets.

The role focuses on test plan development, test content and tool creation, software/QA practices, and silicon debug to identify root causes and fixes.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Guidance: 0–1+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years required with a Master's degree.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and executing validation activities and delivering high-quality test software and diagnostics.

  • Validate and verify logic and new architectural features on post-silicon platforms.
  • Create test plans based on detailed understanding of CPU functional blocks and architecture.
  • Develop test content and test/debug tools for system-level validation.
  • Follow software development and QA processes to ensure reliable test infrastructure.
  • Optimize software performance and test efficiency.
  • Measure and ensure test coverage and effectiveness for new designs.
  • Identify, debug, and help root-cause silicon issues, working individually and in teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • Proficiency in Python and other scripting languages.
  • Strong knowledge of CPU architecture fundamentals, validation, and debug processes.
  • Experience with post-silicon validation tools and methodologies.

Nice-to-have / preferred:

  • Hands-on experience in system-level or post-silicon validation, test development, or silicon design.
  • Familiarity with platform debug tools and embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in C/C++/C# or additional programming languages.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is acceptable and may reduce the experience expectation (posting specifies 0–1+ years with a Bachelor's degree, or 0 years with a Master's degree).
