Computer Engineer, Central CAD

Role Summary

The EDA and Design Enablement team builds and supports tools and flows for CMOS design and verification. This role focuses on developing, improving, and supporting both in-house and commercial EDA tools used across design, layout, and process teams.

This is a hands-on engineering role that emphasizes debugging production toolchains, automating workflows, and enabling design teams to meet performance, area, and power targets.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include maintaining and improving EDA tools, supporting production flows, and working with design teams to resolve tool and workflow issues.

  • Develop and enhance EDA tools, flows, and methodologies for CMOS design and verification.
  • Debug, evaluate, and support in-house and commercial EDA solutions in a production environment.
  • Collaborate with design, layout, and process teams to identify and resolve workflow and tool challenges.
  • Document processes, create runbooks, and provide training and support for end users.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and integrate tools into reliable, repeatable flows.

Requirements

  • Must-have: Strong programming fundamentals and demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Must-have: Effective written and verbal communication in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Must-have: Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and with shell scripting.
  • Must-have: Experience debugging and supporting production engineering tools or tool flows.
  • Nice-to-have: Direct CAD and physical verification rule deck (DRC/LVS) development experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Background in VLSI, IC design, or CAD tools for schematic, layout, simulation, or verification.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with CMOS implementation tradeoffs (area, speed, power) and with Cadence and Calibre tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior work supporting or developing end-to-end EDA design flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
