ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Senior verification engineer and technical lead on Acacia optical interconnect ASICs, focused on verification of next-generation 100Gβ1.6T coherent optical communications designs. The role develops verification strategies, drives verification implementation, and mentors engineers across ASIC projects.
Experience Level
Senior β technical lead level. Typical experience guidance: Bachelors +8 years, Masters +6 years, PhD +3 years, or equivalent related work experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, and validating comprehensive verification for complex ASIC designs and leading teammates to execute verification activities.
- Lead development of detailed verification test plans and acceptance criteria.
- Design and lead development of verification testbenches and environments.
- Apply advanced verification techniques and object-oriented methodologies to complex designs.
- Supervise and coordinate execution of test plans across the verification team.
- Review verification code, functional coverage, and progress metrics.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and process improvements for the verification team.
- Collaborate with design, silicon validation, and cross-functional teams to integrate verification and lab testing.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Proven experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
- Experience with SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Experience with SystemC.
- Proficiency in C++ and experience applying object-oriented verification methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead verification projects, mentor engineers, and communicate technical status clearly.
- Experience developing and maintaining verification testbenches and coverage-driven verification.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM) and in-house IP development.
- Lab silicon validation experience.
- Experience with C++ templates.
- Experience with Formal Verification tools and methodologies (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
- Prior experience leading ASIC technical teams and delivering complex optical communication products.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, OR Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, OR PhD plus 3 years related experience, OR equivalent related work experience.
