Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Senior technical contributor on the Acacia ASIC verification team responsible for verifying next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications ASICs. Work includes developing verification strategies, leading complex verification projects, improving team processes, and mentoring engineers.

This is a hybrid role with an expected in-office cadence of three days per week at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience expectations: Bachelors +8 years, Masters +6 years, PhD +3 years, or equivalent related work experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include planning and executing verification for complex ASICs and providing technical leadership.

  • Lead development of detailed verification test plans.
  • Design and develop verification test benches and infrastructure.
  • Apply advanced/object-oriented verification methodologies to complex designs.
  • Supervise timely execution of test plans and track coverage metrics.
  • Review verification code and coverage; drive improvements in verification quality.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor teammates on verification methods and tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new test technologies and validation processes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Proven experience with ASIC verification methodologies and tools.
  • Strong SystemVerilog and UVM experience; familiarity with SystemC.
  • Proficient in C++ and scripting/programming for verification flows.
  • Experience with object-oriented verification methodologies and building complex testbenches.
  • Track record of leading verification efforts and mentoring engineers.
  • Familiarity with lab silicon bring-up and validation practices.
  • Preferred: experience with in-house IP development, DSP algorithms (e.g., QAM), C++ templates, and formal verification tools such as Jasper or VCFormal.

Education Requirements

Degree and equivalent experience options: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, Master's degree plus 6 years, PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience. No specific field-of-study or certifications were specified in the posting.
