ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Senior technical lead responsible for verification of next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communication ASICs within the Acacia team at Cisco. The role focuses on planning and executing verification strategies, developing verification infrastructure, and providing technical leadership and mentorship.

This is a hybrid role with three days per week at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting specifies senior/technical lead experience and requires substantial prior verification experience (see Education Requirements for years-of-experience guidance).

Responsibilities

Lead verification activities for complex ASIC projects and ensure design quality.

  • Lead and develop detailed, comprehensive test plans.
  • Design and develop verification testbenches and environments.
  • Apply advanced and innovative verification techniques to complex designs.
  • Supervise and coordinate timely execution of test plans by the team.
  • Review verification code, simulations, and coverage metrics.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers on verification methods and tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate the latest verification technologies and processes.

  • Must-have: Experience with ASIC verification methodologies and tools; object-oriented verification methodologies.
  • Must-have: Proficient in SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
  • Must-have: Proficient in C++ and scripting/programming for verification automation.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated ability to lead technical verification projects and mentor teammates.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with in-house IP development and lab silicon validation.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM) and C++ templates.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Formal Verification tools and methodologies (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years related experience, Master’s plus 6 years, PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience. (The posting lists degree-plus-experience combinations; equivalent practical experience is accepted.)
