Job Title
ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for functional verification of ASIC/VLSI designs across design, validation, and testing phases. Work with internal and external development partners to ensure reliable, production-ready integrated circuits through testbench development, simulation, and systematic debugging.
This is a hybrid role based in Durham, NC with an expectation of approximately two days per week onsite.
Experience Level
Mid-level β requires 3+ years of VLSI verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Develop and execute verification plans and testbenches for ASIC/VLSI components.
- Implement and maintain SystemVerilog/UVM-based verification environments and regression suites.
- Debug simulation failures, analyze root causes, and collaborate with designers to resolve issues.
- Coordinate with internal teams and outsourced development partners through all phases of VLSI development.
- Represent the verification team during project reviews and report status to management.
- Provide technical guidance and mentor less experienced staff.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 3+ years' experience in VLSI verification using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Strong knowledge of digital logic, VLSI principles, and computer architecture.
- Proven experience verifying and debugging integrated circuits, architectures, and algorithms.
- Proficiency with programming and scripting languages, hardware description languages, and EDA/FPGA tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading verification efforts and coordinating with external development partners.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or familiarity with VLSI design and concepts is expected.
