Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal Engineer
Role Summary
The Analog/Mixed-Signal Engineer will design, simulate, layout-aware verify, and lab-test mixed-signal integrated circuits to support Extropic's hardware development and tape-out activities. The role works with cross-functional teams to deliver robust analog IP and top-level mixed-signal blocks for modern CMOS processes.
Experience Level
Mid-level (typical candidate: 3+ years experience in analog/mixed-signal IC design; exact years not specified).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, verification, and hands-on validation of analog and mixed-signal blocks across the project lifecycle.
- Architect, design, and simulate analog blocks (comparators, op-amps, references/bias, LDOs, filters, switched-capacitor circuits, data converters).
- Design and lay out high-speed analog circuits (oscillators, PLLs, frequency dividers).
- Perform detailed circuit simulation (PEX, Monte-Carlo, corner analysis) and support pre-silicon top-level mixed-signal simulations.
- Execute lab testing and characterization using signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes; debug silicon behavior.
- Support tape-out verification (DRC, ERC, LVS) and address layout-dependent reliability issues (EM, latch-up mitigation).
- Collaborate with digital, test, and package teams to integrate analog IP and meet project schedules.
- Document design decisions, test plans, and validation results for manufacturing handoff.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills are listed first. Preferred skills are indicated.
- Proven experience designing a range of analog blocks and high-speed mixed-signal circuits.
- Strong knowledge of analog/mixed-signal concepts: noise, linearity, stability, low-power and low-noise techniques.
- Deep understanding of CMOS device behavior, layout effects, and reliability (e.g., electro-migration) with mitigation strategies.
- Hands-on lab experience testing mixed-signal circuits with standard RF and oscilloscope instrumentation.
- Extensive simulation experience in Cadence including PEX, Monte-Carlo, and corner analysis.
- Experience supporting tape-out verification flows (DRC, ERC, LVS) and pre-silicon validation.
- Experience designing for modern CMOS technologies.
-
Preferred: Strong programming skills in Python and C.
-
Preferred: Experience with I/O design concerns such as ESD and latch-up.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
